Hydrolat (Aqua lavandula) is completely natural product made by the distillation of lavender flowers. The ancient belief is that lavender, its cultivation and use bring luck. The ancient Romans used lavender water in their baths to stimulate and regenerate skin. Lavender water is the ideal care for almost all types of skin, it has a cleansing and a cooling effect, it helps with insect bites, it refreshes the face in summer heat and after shaving, it helps with the sunbathing burns and is used as hair rinse. Some have thought that lavender flower is flower of innocence and chastity, while the others thought that lavender has strong aphrodisiac characteristics. The legend has it that it was lavender water which helped Antonia Cenida from Pula to seduce the Roman emperor Vespasian, who built magnificent Pula's Arena in memory of their love.
