The HEALTHY AS GRICKO project includes a series of workshops and campaigns targeted at pre-school children not covered by the regular pre-school program, focusing on the adoption of healthy nutrition and hygiene practices as a basis for general health and the improvement of the quality of life of pre-school children. Specific goals are: developing balanced nutritional habits, learning proper tooth brushing techniques, encouraging the development of children's self-confidence, developing the skills of communication, cooperation, conflict resolution and teamwork, encouraging the development of motor skills, especially the balance and agility in natural forms of movement (walking, running, crawling) as well as throwing and shooting skills, stimulation of arm and leg coordination and the flexibility of spinal cord, strengthening large muscle groups and development of fine motor skills.
In partnership with the Kontakt Association, the following activities will be carried out: educational activities, the production of "Adventures of Healthy Gricko" - a story about one of the healthiest super heroes, boy Gricko, who is in many ways inspirational and saves the world with healthy snacks.
Given that child's sensory integration is best developed through the play, movement and research, we have also designed two workshops for kids in Pula that will stimulate and awaken their senses. The CREATIVE CORNER is intended for kids between the ages of 3-6 years and the children who are not covered by regular pre-school education. The LETTER BY LETTER workshop is intended for children under the age of 9, with special emphasis on speech and reading development.
The COSTUME MAKING workshops are run in collaboration with primary schools in Veprinac, Kanfanar and Opatija for children attending grades 1 to 4. With the help of classroom teachers we make costumes for carnival and medieval manifestations. The children themselves make handmade pieces of historical clothing and footwear typical for the 15th century.
The common denominator for kids' workshops are Middle Ages and the development of knowledge and useful skills that people once used in their everyday life. By using art techniques, dolls, textiles, costumes and footwear, reading, singing and dancing, children will revive medieval history and the times of Merlin the Wizard. These workshops will provide the environment that encourages the play, exploration, learning, but also serves for rest and recreation. The goals of these workshops are the development of fine motor skills, communication and social skills, strengthening the self-confidence, development of responsibility, stimulation of sensory organization, reduction of stress levels, encouragement of learning in different ways, development of imagination and creativity, speech and reading development, development of research learning.
